In contrast to our other flights, this flight takes off from the reservoir of Sant Antoni, in La Pobla de Segur. The place itself is close to the “Xiringuito” of La Pobla, on the shore of the Sant Antoni reservoir. Here we don’t have to climb any mountains and our launch site will also be our landing site. It is a perfect location to combine flying with other aquatic activities or just chill out while having a drink or a bite to eat at the Xiringuito, before or after the flight!
The particularity of this flight is the fact that we do not launch from the top of a mountain. Instead, we will launch from the lake shore, a powerful motorboat will tow us using a pay-out winch that will lift us about 1000 m above the level of the lake, that means that we will be about 1500 m above sea level, equivalent to the Coll d’Ares (Montsec).
This system allows us to reduce the time spent doing the activity while the flight time remains the same. We don’t have to drive up to the Montsec launch sites (about 30′). Instead, we are lifted into the sky by the pull of the motorboat and once we are up, we release the tow-line and fly freely!
We won’t jump off any cliffs, we’ll just take a few running steps until the paraglider lifts us off the ground with the help of the tow-line attached to the motorboat.
It is a peaceful flight with a moderate thermic activity. The highlights of this flight are the breathtaking views and the exciting way we are launched into the sky with a towline.
We will land in the same place from which we took off.
